    What would be even better is to be able to play mandolin, period. Thought about getting me a cheap one and giving it a try.

    I believe there was a Hutto in the GA. or SC area that made some excellent mandolins. Any relation?

    No, my close relatives are all in South Carolina. Of course all the Huttos are "cousins" as we all descended from one guy who came over in a boat around 1700. But the Georgia, Alabama and Texas ones are from a branch of the family tree that split a couple hundred years back.

    It sure would be cool to own a "Hutto" manodlin though, wouldn't it?
